Success Story 2

Before CESA-Uganda’s intervention with support from World Mercy Fund, Buweke primary school children were walking long distances like 3kms to fetch water, moreover from ponds, In addition, children sanitation was also so poor and pathetic i.e. their toilets were so old, almost full and with almost no doors, in addition they were not also observing privacy for especially girl children.

Am always forced to remain home during my monthly periods because our latrines have no special room for us girls where we can exchange our pads, said the head of the school Joan Nalule narrates’

After the intervention:

‘’We are so happy’ School Children of Buweke primary school says with joy. We are currently enjoying the new toilets and rain water harvesting tanks as a way of keeping good hygiene and sanitation.

The school has got 5 new double stances which consider gender and children living with disabilities, while their water tank is 10000 litres capacity of water, thus children no longer move long distances to fetch water, hence their health and academic performance have improved
